Frequently asked questions
What happens if the internet goes down?+
The POS keeps working normally: sales, receipt printing and kitchen tickets on the local network. Data is synced automatically once the connection is back.
Which payment terminals work with it?+
GEPOS drives the SumUp Solo terminal directly: the amount shows on the terminal without retyping, and the sale is recorded only once the payment is accepted. TWINT works with your own merchant account, with a QR code shown on the till and on the customer display. Payment fees stay those of SumUp and TWINT.
Can I refund a customer?+
Yes, straight from the till, in full or in part. A SumUp card payment is credited back to the customer’s card; the till records the refund only if SumUp accepted it. Every refund needs a manager’s code and shows in the closings.
What hardware do I need?+
Any tablet, PC or touch terminal with a modern browser, plus an 80 mm receipt printer if you wish. Allow about CHF 500 to 1,500 for a complete station, payment terminal extra. We’ll advise you on hardware compatible with your payment terminal.
Is my data hosted in Switzerland?+
Yes. Data is hosted in Switzerland and remains yours. You can export it at any time.
Can I export to my accounting software?+
Yes. Each Z closing produces a journal ready to import into Bexio, Abacus, AbaWeb or Winbiz, with the right accounts and VAT codes.
Is GEPOS available in French?+
Yes, the app is fully available in French and English, and each user can choose their language.
Is there a commitment?+
No. The subscription is monthly and can be cancelled at any time; setup is then charged once (CHF 290.– remote, CHF 490.– on site). It is free if you commit for 12 months. Your data stays yours and can be exported whenever you like.
